This posting serves as an Alternate Routes to Certification Block Grant Program application.   

 

Internal employees and substitutes will receive first consideration.

This opportunity is limited to the number of candidates the District can support.

 

 

Step 2 - Select an Endorsement Area

Clover Park School District supports alternate route programs in the areas listed below based on district need:

  • Special Education
  • Elementary Education
  • Mullti-Language Learner (MLL)
  • Math
  • Middle Level Math
  • Middle Level Science
  • Spanish or other World Languages

 

Step 3 - Apply to City University or Pacific Lutheran University Program

Step 4 - Review and comply with District Action Plan

The Clover Park School District will develop an action plan to guide applicant through alternate route process and for board approval.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates, Bachelor’s or Masters Degree
  • Candidate must be able to show a minimum of 6 months' experience working with students in a classroom setting
  • Current substitute or employee of Clover Park School District
  • Acceptance to the City University or Pacific Lutheran University ARBC program.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to organize time and materials effectively.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and volunteers in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to incorporate literacy instruction into other areas of instruction.

 

Summary of Assignment

Under general direction of the building administrator, is responsible for planning, providing, and evaluating varied learning experiences of students in cooperation with other staff members, parents, and the public.  Educator will be teaching and completing coursework concurrently.

 

Essential Functions

  • Makes long and short range plans for each subject area of instruction.
  • Thorough knowledge of subject areas taught.
  • Provides for individual differences in the learning needs of students.
  • Demonstrates subject mastery.
  • Provides a classroom climate which is based on mutual respect, rapport, fairness and consistency.
  • Demonstrates competency in instructional skills.
  • Evaluates in terms of planned goals and revises instruction as a result of the evaluation.
  • Informs pupils of their progress in terms of the objectives set for the lesson or course of study.
  • Interacts positively with students, professional associates, and patrons of the school district.
  • Meets classes, renders accurate reports, performs assigned duties punctually.
  • Adjusts to varied situations, demands, and new instructional concepts.
  • Fulfills job-related non-teaching duties.
  • Directs student teachers, paraeducators, pupil tutors, Option C students, methods class students, and parent volunteers when such personnel are accepted to enhance the instructional program.
  • Handles student discipline and attendant problems.
  • The essential functions listed above are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.  The position may perform a variety of non-essential functions consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
  • Maintain good academic standing in educator’s teacher preparation program (college/university).

 

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employee’s responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

 

INSURANCE BENEFITS

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, long term disability, and basic life insurance benefits. Clover Park School District benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). RETIREMENT AND DEFERRED COMPENSATION

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement System Plan. For eligibility information, check on the link to the Department of Retirement Systems' website.

 

Employees also have the ability to participate in tax deferred 403(b) and 457 Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP). These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pretax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.

To enroll in an eligible 403(b) plan, employees must consult with their own financial planner that is an approved vendor.
