What are the responsibilities and job description for the Classroom Teacher position at TeachIowa?
We are looking for an elementary teacher to join our dedicated staff in a close knit, family-like atmosphere. Our small class size makes Danbury Catholic an ideal place to teach, learn, and grow together. Teachers must be fully licensed or able to get a teaching license in the State of Iowa. Primary Purpose: To form students academically, emotionally, and spiritually while instilling a love for others, for God, and for their Catholic faith.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active and engaged learning. Plans and materials must be in accordance with established Diocesan and Iowa standards.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning Provide a variety of materials and resources for use in educational and classroom activities; prepare classroom as needed for related activities.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules, protocols, and disciplinary systems of the school.
- Assign and grade classroom work, homework, test, and assignments. Provide feedback to students and/or parents, including suggestions for improvement or additional activities to improve academic achievement. Respond promptly to parent inquiries, concerns, or requests for information regarding their student’s assignments and/or activities.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and evaluate student's performance and development, using information to adjust teaching
- Provide appropriate feedback to students and monitor their use of materials and equipment. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and Update necessary records accurately and completely as required by Iowa law, Diocesan policies, and school guidelines. Prepare additional reports as required or requested.
- Actively participate in professional development activities, teacher and school meetings, parent meetings, and other required activities as governed by the teacher’s contract.
