Job Title: Interventionist
Classification:
Job Summary: The Interventionist will provide direct intervention and progress monitoring for students who need support in reading or math, or other academic support, working in concert with classroom teachers. ESSER III funds (American Rescue Plan) are used to fund this position. The initial one-year commitment could be extended to a longer term position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Through collaboration with other staff, coordinate and facilitate the implementation of academic and social-emotional interventions for students in need of support towards meeting course standards.
- Use data to identify students for Tier 2 or 3 intervention support.
- Use research-based strategies and techniques to support students individually or in small groups.
- Assist teachers and instructional staff in addressing student learning using the MTSS framework; provide guidance on strategies, tools, and techniques to effectively teach all students.
- Develop, document, and maintain ongoing intervention plans in the intervention management system.
- Maintain progress monitoring data on how students are responding to intervention plans to make adjustments as needed.
- Communicate with teachers, administrators and families regarding student progress and provide strategies families can use at home.
Requirements
- Valid Iowa teaching license, with appropriate endorsement code for teaching assignment
- Must pass a background check per Public Law 101-630, Public Law 101-647, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act Part 63.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
