Due to retirement, Sioux Center Community School District is seeking a highly motivated 6th-8th Grade Interventionist beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
The Middle School Interventionist will play a crucial role in supporting students who require additional assistance in reading, writing, math, and behavior. The interventionist will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop, draft, and implement targeted intervention plans that address individual student needs. A portion of the interventionist's time will be dedicated to assisting at-risk students during study hall times, providing them the the extra support they need to succeed academically and behaviorally.

Basic Function of the Position:
A middle school interventionist is an educator who provides targeted academic support to students struggling in core subjects like reading, math, or writing, working closely with classroom teachers to identify specific needs and deliver individualized or small group interventions to help students reach grade-level expectations, often within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework; their primary focus is to close achievement gaps and prevent students from falling further behind by designing and implementing effective interventions tailored to each student's learning style and needs.

Responsibilities
- Conduct ongoing assessments to identify students requiring intervention, analyze their strengths and weaknesses, and track progress over time.
- Interpret data from assessments to inform intervention strategies and make data-driven decisions about student support.
- Deliver targeted small group or one-on-one interventions focused on specific academic skills, using differentiated instruction methods.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to align interventions with the regular curriculum, discuss student progress, and coordinate support strategies.
- Design and implement engaging intervention lessons that address specific learning gaps and incorporate evidence-based practices.
- Regularly monitor student progress through formative assessments and adjust interventions as needed.
- Communicate student progress and intervention plans to parents/guardians and involve them in the support process.
- Stay updated on current research and best practices in intervention strategies and instructional methods.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students.
- Prepare materials and classroom for class activities.
- Implement instructional programs within guidelines of district curriculum.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
- Maintain an inventory of classroom instructional supplies, textbooks, and materials, and exercise control of the care of the same.
- Be informed of the educational philosophy, goals, and policies of the district.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Maintain district policies and regulations.
- Participate in initiating, implementing and coordinating any changes in curriculum.
- Perform other duties as delegated by the building administration and in compliance with the negotiated agreement.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
