Boyden-Hull Jr/Sr High School is seeking a Full-Time Special Education Strategist I teacher for the 2025-26 school year.
Reports to: Secondary Principal
Qualifications: Appropriate Iowa State Teacher’s License
Status: Full Time/Salary
Performance Responsibilities:

1. Provide a basic core program for student’s on individualized education plans (IEPs).
2. Conduct IEP meetings with the student’s IEP team to create the optimal educational plan for the student.
3. Be proficient or willing to learn the statewide IEP system (Achieve).
4. Coordinate and supervise work experience and job-training programs involving life skills for student with IEPs.
5. Work cooperatively with classroom teachers who have IEP students integrated into regular classes, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students to the entire staff and assisting the student with regular class assignments.
6. Confer frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social, and personal problems of such students.
7. Assist other professional staff members in resolving the unique behavioral or disciplinary problems of each student.
8. Assist in screening, evaluating, and recommending placements of applicants in the school’s special education program.
9. Counsel individuals and groups of special education students with educational, occupational, and personal problems.
10. Assist special education students in making realistic assessments of their abilities and in establishing educational and occupational goals in keeping with these abilities.
11. Provide motivation to students who have a short attention span.
12. Keep attendance, progress monitoring records, and all other records pertinent to the special education program for state reports.
13. Participate in transition planning and preparation for adult life experiences.
