What are the responsibilities and job description for the TLC Master Teacher position at TeachIowa?
Position open for the 2025-2026 school year.
The master teacher’s primary role is, with the principal, to analyze student data and create and institute an academic achievement plan for the school. Master teachers lead collaboration groups and provide demonstration lessons, coaching and team teaching to career teachers. Master teachers collaborate to identify research-based instructional strategies to share with career teachers during collaboration meetings. They are partners with the principal in observing other teachers and then helping to determine additional needed PD.
Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
- Analyze school-wide student data as the basis for developing a school plan.
- Oversee the planning, facilitation and follow-up of collaboration meetings and professional development sessions.
- Team-teach with colleagues, demonstrate model lessons, and develop and help implement best instructional practices.
- Observe and provide peer assistance and coaching toward meeting teachers’ Individual Professional Development Plan goals.
- Attend all professional development meetings.
- Work an expanded calendar year (10 days).
