Cheerleading Coach
Job Title: Cheerleading Coach
Reports To: Activities Director and Secondary Principal
Supervises: N/A
Summary: The Alburnett Community School District employs the Cheerleading Coach to provide leadership, supervision, and organization, and to carry out the objectives of the total program including helping each participant achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline, and an increased level of self-esteem.
Qualifications:
● Possess a coaching endorsement or coaching authorization certification or
● Have experience as a cheerleader or experience as a cheerleading coach
● Have the ability to be a role model for students
Essential Functions:
● Be knowledgeable of any rules, regulations and coaching techniques for cheerleading and of local rules and regulations regarding eligibility, good conduct, board policies, etc. regarding student participants.
● Provide for the health and safety of the participants with regard to physicals, insurance issues, equipment, practice procedures, emergency procedures, and the like.
● Establish a communication procedure with regard to informing students and parents of rules, awards and lettering, state and local rules and regulations, and other communication, which will keep all informed for the purpose of elimination of misunderstandings.
● Provide for the proper care of facilities, equipment, and uniforms and the storage of equipment and uniforms including notifying the principal of the need for repair and/or replacement.
● Prepare and submit to the Activities Director an inventory of equipment and uniforms at the end of each season.
● Make requests for transportation needs to the Transportation Director in such a manner that allows sufficient time to arrange for a bus/van and driver.
● Travel to and from away athletic events with the cheerleaders and be the last out of the facility to ensure no equipment is left behind nor that any damage has occurred.
● Motivate participants with praise and affirmation; avoid sarcasm, embarrassment and belittling; exercise self-control during practices and games and reflect positively upon the team, school, and yourself.
● Schedule and organize practices and events with a spirit of cooperation, recognizing the need for other coaches and directors of activities to work with many of the same students.
● Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments as required by the principal for the purpose of long-term record keeping.
● Complete any required annual trainings.
● Performs other duties as may be assigned.
