Equipment Operator


Role Description - Brief Summary of Team Member's Role

As an Equipment Operator at 2020 Builders, you’ll play a vital part in making sure our projects are built efficiently, safely, and with precision. You’ll be in charge of operating the heavy machinery needed to move dirt, materials, and more, while teaching others and ensuring the crew has the tools to succeed. Your work will directly impact the pace and quality of our builds.   • Live up to Team 2020's culture and core values.
  • Operate and maintain Skid Steers, Mini-Excavators, and other construction equipment
  • Demonstrate the proper use and capabilities of different machines to team members
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines
  • Assess job sites to determine which equipment is best suited for specific tasks
  • Ensure all equipment is properly inspected and maintained daily
  • Teach and train other team members on the safe and efficient use of machinery
  • Coordinate with project managers and crew leads to ensure machinery is being used effectively and on schedule
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe work environment for everyone
  • Manage daily equipment logs and usage reports
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment (e.g., checking fluid levels, cleaning, etc.)
  • Operate equipment in a way that minimizes damage to the equipment and to the site while maximizing efficiency
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials on-site as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


Expectations - Achieving the Results. The Goals and Metrics for Which the Team Member is Held Accountable.

  • Operate machinery with zero accidents or safety violations
  • Complete at least 85% of tasks on schedule, as determined by project timelines
  • Maintain equipment with a 95% or higher uptime (minimal downtime for repairs)
  • Teach or assist with at least one piece of equipment per team member within the first 90 days
  • Reduce equipment-related damage or incidents to under 5 per quarter
  • Provide feedback every week by the end of business on Friday on your morale, stress, and workload using the EntreLeadership weekly report tool, CYF
  • Assist with the training of at least one new operator every 6 months
  • Complete daily logs and reports with 100% accuracy and timeliness


Must Haves

  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment (Skid Steer, Mini-Excavator, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record
  • Certified in heavy equipment operation (or willing to obtain certification)
  • Strong working knowledge of construction and earth-moving equipment
  • Experience in training or mentoring less experienced team members
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations on construction sites
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions
  • Strong communication skills, both with crew members and management
  • Forklift certification is a plus

Schedule:


  • Full Time (45 /- hours)
  • 8 hour shift (extra hours as required)
  • Monday to Friday (extra hours as required)


Ability to commute/relocate:

  • North Carolina: Reliably commute or planning to relocate at your own expense prior to beginning work (Required)
