Personal Support Caregiver

Team Alli is seeking one to two Caregivers to work with a client, part-time, 10 – 20 hours/week. We are a small team, caring for one 30-year-old female on the autism spectrum. As a caregiver, you will play a vital role in our individual’s life. By providing compassionate, attentive care to our client during her daily activities, you will serve both as a teacher and an advocate. We are seeking friendly and respectful caregivers dedicated to helping our client thrive so she can achieve a higher quality of life.

Our #1 mission is to improve our individual’s life with dedicated care. Though you would be a paid staff member, you will become part of the Team Alli family. We offer flexible scheduling, and we are willing to work with and around your school and/or work schedule. This position would be perfect for a college student studying in this field or looking to earn an income without having to work long hours, or for someone looking for a 2nd job. We are looking for someone who is able to work weekend shifts, either a Sat or Sun. We try not to schedule for both, if possible. We will always provide one full weekend off every month.

Roles and Tasks as a Support Care Worker

You will be expected to treat our client with the utmost respect and dignity while providing direct support to her in daily living tasks and personal cares. This includes teaching, guidance, encouragement, emotional support and in certain situations, physical assistance.

Duties:

  • Administers all prescribed and over the counter medications as necessary and documents appropriately.
  • Guarantees the client gets to all day services, appointments and all other groups or special events she is enrolled in. Ensures client arrives on time and is picked up at the appropriate time or attends with her to provide any support, as needed.
  • Assists with personal cares, including daily/monthly hygiene needs
  • Completes housekeeping tasks while inside the client’s home
  • Provides client with nutritious meals and snacks at appropriate times and/or as needed.
  • Provides recreational activities and leisure time opportunities and activities within the community and at the client’s home, with consideration to what she enjoys doing.

Employment Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license, car insurance and a good driving record
  • Reliable transportation – You will be using your own vehicle to provide the client with transportation during your shift
  • Completion of criminal background check
  • Basic first aid knowledge – CPR certification is a plus, but not required
  • Available to work weekend shifts and some holidays
  • High level of comfort assisting with all hygiene and medication needs
  • Ability to provide up to 3 professional references who can verify work ethic and history
  • Preferred: 6 months working with individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, autism OR studying in this field
  • We are willing to train the right person if there is no previous experience

Strong Observation Skills and Attentiveness: Read and understand body language effectively. Be able to match or counteract body language and response; know the difference between the two.

Dependability: Realize that you play a vital role in the client’s life and function as part of her team, we need to show up for one another.

Flexibility: Adapt to different situations and manage the unexpected.

Trustworthiness: Assume 100% responsibility for our client and all of her belongings while with her and in her home; never break that trust by taking advantage of our client or her personal belongings.

Training

1 on 1 paid training of 40 hours will be provided in the client’s home and in the community prior to working alone with the client.

Compensation

Hourly pay is $17.00/hour for daytime & evening hours

  • Typical Shift: 4 – 8 hours. Shorter shifts during the weekday evenings, and longer shifts on weekends. You will not be required to work any over time.

Hourly Pay is $16.32hour for overnight hours

  • Optional Shift: You may be asked on occasion, but never required to work this shift

Mileage Reimbursement

  • You will be paid per mile for any miles acquired during your shift that is done for our client
