Physician / Medical Director

Shelbyville, MI

Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes behavioral health, community health, physical therapy, chiropractic services, and pharmacy services to provide quality medical care to the Gun Lake Tribe.
Focus most of your time on providing primary care for your patients while also supervising and supporting our small team of medical professionals.
Assess, diagnose, and treat children and adults using a holistic patient-centered approach.
Monitor chronic medical conditions that affect our community, such as addiction and diabetes
Supervise clinical staff, conducting regular performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
Review and sign off on patient medical charts to ensure quality care consistent with medical practice standards.
Leverage the latest AI technology, Freed AI, to streamline chart documentation and focus more of your time on patient care.
Work four 10-hour days weekly with occasional non-traditional hours with advanced notice
Be willing to travel for program requirements, meetings, and continuing education.

We seek a Physician / Medical Director to play a critical role in leading our team and ensuring they provide quality care for the Gun Lake Tribe community and its service population. This is a contracted position subject to renewal every three years. Our Ideal Physician / Medical Director :

Experience : A background in family practice or pediatrics with expertise in chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, addiction) and previous leadership experience is preferred

Licensing / Certifications : MD or DO with board certification, State of Michigan medical license, DEA licensure, ability to manage Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use, ability to complete X waiver training.

Interpersonal Skills : Strong communication and interpersonal skills, engaging with diverse populations and working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.

Leadership : Strong administrative abilities. Experience in mentoring, providing constructive feedback, and educating personnel.

Cultural Competence : Ability to approach healthcare with cultural humility, meet patients where they are, and learn about the community's unique needs.

Organization & Adaptability : Highly organized, able to prioritize tasks, and adapt to shifting needs in a fast-paced environment.

224,835 - $382,544 / year – DOE
