What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer/Operator position at Team Elmer's?
Team Elmer's seeks to fill an opening for a Laborer/Operator in the Traverse City Yard. This individual will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the yard including but not limited to lawn maintenance, sweeping, window washing, small machine/engine and/or tool repair, operation of a loader and/or sweeper, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate a loader and/or other pieces of equipment in the yard
- Responsible for small machine, engine, and/or tool repair work
- Perform manual labor related to lawn care and maintenance
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools
- Dig dirt using shovels and/or machinery
- Perform a variety of inside and/or outside maintenance related to sweeping floors, washing windows, etc.
- Maintain equipment and tools by keeping them clean and in proper working order
- Practice safety at all times including driving company vehicles or use of equipment. Use PPE while working: hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, high visibility vest, steel toe boots, pants, and gloves.
- Take initiative and anticipate what needs to be done
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Clean driving record for the past 5 years
- Previous experience operating a loader and/or other heavy construction equipment
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Ability to complete tasks like handling power tools, running heavy equipment, raking and shoveling as needed
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting, carrying, climbing, and walking. Repetitive lifting could be 50 or more pounds at any one time
- Ability to work in all environmental conditions
- Good work ethic, punctuality, and alertness Mechanical
- - Knowledge of equipment, machines, and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to follow all company, DOT, OSHA, and MiOSHA safety rules.
