Alternate Public Defender (Southeast) – Assistant Public Defender III
The Alternate Public Defender Southeast Office is seeking to hire an Assistant Public Defender III. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position, including preparing cases for trial, zealously advocating and defending their client, seeking and negotiating plea depositions, and entering pleas in the felony cases in Superior Court. The candidate must be able to travel throughout the Atlantic Judicial Circuit in Bryan, Evans, Liberty, Long, Tattnall, and McIntosh Counties, as well as the Ogeechee Circuit in Bulloch, Effingham, Screven, and Jenkins Counties. The Assistant Public Defender will handle felony cases from pre-indictment through trial. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. A strong commitment to indigent defense is also required.
