Description: Under general supervision, provides instruction to students in the Automotive Technology Program. The program is designed to prepare participants for entry-level Automotive positions in the automotive industry. The instructor will work primarily in classroom and indoor shop areas requiring close attention to detailed procedures in the preparation and basic maintenance and operation of the automotive equipment, inventory and requisition of supplies. The instructor must demonstrate the use of appropriate teaching techniques; use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other record-keeping required; effective use of oral and written communication skills; knowledge of current in-field procedures; and follow approved course syllabus. The instructor will evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives within the program, complete all reports and records in a timely manner and maintain accurate inventory of all assigned properties. The position may involve teaching traditional day and/or evening classes or online classes. Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) to four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 50 lbs. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the lab environment. Minimum Qualifications • Associate degree in Automotive Technology or closely related field • Current ASE certification • General knowledge appropriate to the Automotive Technology program and related work experience.
