Description:
Under general supervision, the professional lab assistant will be responsible for providing guidance and instruction necessary to prepare students with the technical competencies essential to the Commercial Truck Driving Certificate in the night cohort. The lab assistant will need to be able to demonstrate driving abilities and comply with all DOT regulations. The lab assistant will support in all aspects of instruction for the Commercial Truck Driving Certificate: effectively use oral and written communication skills and contain knowledge of current in-field procedures, complete all reports and records in a timely manner, maintain accurate inventory of all assigned properties, and maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Policy Manual and accreditation standards. The selected candidate must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, and walking. The selected candidate must also withstand a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
Major Duties:
· Maintain inside and outside lab environments
· Assist in creating and facilitating lab activities with student groups to earn their Class A license
· Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area
· Assist in maintaining equipment and inventory
· Accompany instructor on curricular field trips
Minimum Qualifications:
· Valid and Current Georgia Department of Motor Vehicles Commercial Truck Driver’s License: Class A
Preferred Qualifications:
· Related work experience as a commercial truck driver.
Salary/Benefits: Hourly rate based on education and experience
