DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Workplace Training will be responsible for the administration, development, and implementation of Integrated Education and Training (IET) and Workplace Literacy (WPL) programs and management of the budget for these areas. Major duties include overseeing instructional activities for IET and WPL programs, developing and implementing a variety of IET career pathway and WPL programs, and managing grants, budgets, and expenditures for these areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops, implements, and manages IET and WPL programs at GPTC;
  2. Coordinates with industry and community partners and adult education faculty and staff to develop and implement ongoing courses in a variety of high-demand industries based on community need and student interest;
  3. Ensures that each IET class includes contextualized, concurrent adult education instruction, SSLOs, alignment with training goals and employer requirements, and is taught at a level appropriate for adult education students;
  4. Directs the development and revision of CCRS/ELPS and institutionally-developed IET and WPL curriculum in adult education;
  5. Ensures that IET and Workplace Literacy instructors are implementing high-quality, evidence-based instructional strategies that lead to positive student outcomes;
  6. Coordinates with adult education faculty and staff and community partners to recruit and register students for cohorts;
  7. Collaborates with businesses and employers to develop customized Workplace Literacy programs and evaluate program outcomes;
  8. Coordinates with the Program Administrator to allocate budget funds for IET tuition, student incentives, and events each year;
  9. Monitors IET and WPL expenditures and grant funds on a continual basis to ensure expenses remain within budget;
  10. Prepares grant proposals for IET and WPL program funding, manages grant expenditures, and meets grant reporting requirements;
  11. Evaluates IET and WPL faculty at scheduled intervals;
  12. Reviews and approves expense accounts, leave requests, etc. for IET and WPL programs to ensure conformity with policies and procedures;
  13. Monitors the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with TCSG policy manual and department procedures;
  14. Keeps abreast of changes in the field by attending conferences and training as budget and schedule permits;
  15. Assigns, plans, and directs activities to ensure maximum operational efficiency on a continuous basis according to established procedures;
  16. Prepares reports as requested;
  17. Defines and sets goals based on strategic direction of the adult education division;
  18. Monitors outcomes and makes necessary adjustments to improve outcomes;
  19. Remains up-to-date and compliant with policies, procedures, and state or federal laws that may impact department initiatives;
  20. Maintains excellent working relationships with and serves as a liaison to internal and external customers and partners;
  21. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·         A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university *and* five (5) years of experience in management and/or adult education.

·         Strong managerial experience and demonstrated effectiveness in working collaboratively with faculty and content experts.

·         Experience designing and implementing innovative approaches to training and/or instruction.

PREFERRED

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·         A Master’s degree.

·         Three years overseeing IETs in adult education or relevant experience.

·         Knowledge of information technology and instructional strategies.

·         Experience managing program grants and budgets.

SALARY/BENEFITS

$60,000 - $65,000 annually depending on qualifications and experience.  This is a full-time position with paid state holidays, accrued annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
