Directs statewide management and compliance of one or more Environmental Health Programs. Establishes policy and procedures in compliance with rules, regulations, and codes. Ensures programs implemented to protect employees and communities. Directs subordinate staff and managers. Provides direction and influence on agency policy. Frequently reports to the EH Section Director. May provide leadership across multiple units and programs.
- Plans, organizes, and directs the work of the program to provide continuous service to internal and external clients
- Manages human resources and employee functions.
- Participates in the development and administration of the environmental health program budget.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of environmental health services and programs for assigned area.
- Assures environmental health services provided by the Department are adequate, appropriate, and accessible for assigned area.
- Set priorities and implements goals and objectives to meet or resolve environmental health problems.
- Participates in or assesses internal/external customer needs and develops policies and plans based on data collection, activity reports, planning documents, program plans and objectives.
- Develop long-term (five year) and short term (one year) goals and objectives for the assigned environmental health program and participates in the environmental health branch’s strategic and operational planning.
- Plans and organizes assigned environmental health program structure to meet environmental health branch organizational and programmatic objectives.
- Maintains professional knowledge of current laws, policies, trends, and developments in the field of environmental health and applies pertinent new knowledge to performance of other responsibilities.
- Creates and maintains a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation.
- Knowledge of EH Emergency Response plan and ESF 8 responsibilities; and Incident Command Structure.
