Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) - Atlanta Area School for the Deaf located in Clarkston, GA is recruiting for an experienced Professional Education Worker with the working job title of Hourly Bus Driver. Under general supervision, duties include but are not limited to:
Description of Duties
- Provide a means of transportation for students/staff of the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf
- Responsible for meeting state driver licensure requirements and obeys all laws for operation of a school bus
- The candidate is under the supervision of the school Maintenance supervisor
- Enforce normal school system and/or state regulations while transporting groups
- Maintain a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies
- Clean the bus at the end of each trip
- Stay with groups on all trips
- Demonstrate courteous and respectful behavior with students, staff and the general public
- Prohibit food and smoking or unsafe conduct on bus
- Perform pre and post trip safety and maintenance checks
- Advise supervisor of any maintenance or repair needs
- Complete records of all trips and submit them weekly
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- One year experience and/or training involving driving a passenger vehicle
