The Vice President for Economic Development is responsible for planning, administering, and evaluating services to promote the growth of the College's service area. This includes contributing to business retention and expansion, while actively seeking new business opportunities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Marketing & Development: Thorough knowledge of marketing principles and practices, including the development and implementation of marketing plans, sales, and community/business development with an emphasis on prospect development and deal closure.
  • Corporate Relocation & Expansion: General knowledge of corporate relocation and expansion strategies.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to understand and engage with diverse groups. Effective problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Partnerships & Management: Proven success in partnering with external corporate and industry partners and demonstrated success in upper-level management, especially in higher education.
  • Communication: Superior interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to engage with both campus and external constituents. Ability to represent the College effectively with integrity and transparency.
  • Leadership & Judgment: Strong leadership capability, managerial competence, and maturity of judgment. Ability to work collegially within a college system and negotiate with various constituencies.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and pay attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily Operations: Plan and organize daily departmental operations, including evening courses, continuing education, off-campus activities, industrial projects, customized training, and other adult education efforts to align with the College's mission.
  • Team Collaboration: Actively communicate and collaborate with department staff to achieve team objectives.
  • Business Development: Use targeted industry intelligence to identify leads for business expansion and relocation projects. Present to corporate executives and develop strategies to achieve economic development goals.
  • External Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with external organizations, including Chambers of Commerce, Workforce Development organizations, businesses, and non-profits. Ensure community and economic development programs are accessible.
  • Marketing & Promotion: Create and implement marketing strategies to promote the College and its service area as desirable business locations. Market training programs to businesses.
  • Business Recruitment: Identify workforce and educational needs of local businesses and develop programs to meet those needs. Facilitate local business development and recruitment.
  • Strategic Planning: Analyze trends impacting the service area and recommend strategic changes to leverage opportunities. Participate in long-term planning and recommend unified economic development goals.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the department's financial and budgetary operations.
  • Policy Development: Assist in developing and recommending policies and procedures to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Evaluation: Conduct regular evaluations of services provided and make adjustments as necessary.
Bachelor's degree And Seven (7) years of work related experience OR Master¿s degree AND Three (3) years of work related experience
Additional Information

Salary : $105,000 - $110,000
