Title: Estimating Manager
Department(s): Sales and Estimating
Reports to: VP Sales, Proposals and Supply Chain
General Purpose of the Job:
Manage the functions of the estimating department to ensure quality, proper quoting, estimating procedures and profitability of the company.
Summary of Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Coordinating multiple estimates simultaneously as well as review responsibility for multiple estimates or large estimates
- Establishing and maintaining estimating department evaluation procedures
- Establish and maintaining department resource library
- Recruitment and development of all estimating personnel
- Assist Sales and Divisional VP to select projects to bid
- Reviewing project to develop win strategy
- Establishing and coordinating bidding schedule
- Reviewing Estimator pricing and project scheduling
- Reviewing Estimator’s pre-bid recaps and proposals
- Arranging and managing bid turnover to Technical Operations and Manufacturing
- Developing and maintaining estimating systems, templates, and procedures
- Reviewing and maintaining cost data files for labor, and materials
- Reviewing final cost report with project team and develop for historical information
- Attend post-job meetings and document significant pros/cons for Estimator training and future incorporation
- Assisting and/or leading in proposal preparation, presentation and securing new work
- Assisting and preparing fee and risk analysis with Divisional VP
- Responsible for the management of all aspects of the estimating department
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Four-year degree in relatable field, or comparable education/experience combination
· Knowledge of the piping industry or fabrication shops, knowledge of Power or Petrochemical Industry a plus.
· Prior management experience will factor into evaluation
