General Purpose of the Job:
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying, keeping records, prepares items for shipment and loading out going shipments.
Hours: 5:00 PM - 3:05 AM
Summary of Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Studies shop schedule and communicates with project managers and piping superintendent to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
- Oversees outgoing shipping activates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Determines space requirements and position of shipment on trucks and lays out position of shipments.
- Determines legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
- Uses Team's organizational policies to supervise employees including: training, disciplinary actions, resolving problems, assigning work, and directing work.
- Inspects work in progress to verify that work is being done to customer shipping requirements.
- Insures that employees are doing their job in a safe manner. Suggests safety improvements and promotes a "safe culture"
- Maintains machinery or reports to maintenance when repairs are needed.
- Adjusts work to meet production schedules. Looks for improved methods and efficiency gains.
- Maintains and checks time cards and does performance reviews.
- Confers with other supervisors (including nights) to insure products flow smoothly between departments.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondents. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or dial form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
