Duties
- Fabricate, install, and repair pipes and pipe systems according to specifications
- Perform welding tasks, including stick welding, to join pipes and fittings
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine pipe layouts and system requirements
- Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment using various tools and techniques
- Cut, thread, and bend pipes using hand tools or machines
- Install and maintain fire sprinkler systems
- Inspect and test installed pipe systems for leaks or other defects
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to ensure efficient completion of project
Skills
- Proficient in fabricating and installing pipes of various materials (e.g., steel, copper)
- Strong welding skills, including stick welding techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Knowledge of pipefitting techniques, including assembly and securing methods
- Familiarity with rigging procedures for lifting heavy pipes or equipment
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating pipe lengths, angles, and dimensions
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair pipe systems
- Experience in fire sprinkler fitting is a plus
