Aircraft Component Painter (Part Time)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter to join our team at an FAA Part 145 Repair Station. The Painter will be responsible for applying high-quality finishes to aircraft components and structures, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and repair station standards. This position requires knowledge of proper surface preparation, painting techniques, and safety practices to maintain the integrity of the aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare aircraft components and structures for painting, including cleaning, sanding, priming, masking, and bead blasting
  • Apply paints, primers, and coatings using spray guns, paint cans, or touch-up guns, ensuring high-quality finishes
  • Mix and test paint ratios to ensure proper consistency and quality
  • Inspect painted surfaces for defects or imperfections and make necessary corrections
  • Maintain an organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and industry best practices
  • Perform daily maintenance on painting equipment, including cleaning spray guns and other tools
  • Ensure adequate inventory of paint supplies and materials, maintaining proper stock levels
  • Read and interpret aircraft paint drawings to ensure accurate application
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials, such as paints and solvents, according to safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with the team to meet production schedules and maintain project timelines
  • Document and report completed work in accordance with FAA guidelines and company procedures
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry standards and regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • Formal education, high school or equivalent
  • Experience with industrial, commercial, or residential painting
  • All applicants must be able to pass a background check and successfully complete a FAA/DOT drug and alcohol screening
  • Familiar with painting metal surfaces

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions typical of a repair station
  • Ability to wear a mask and pass a respirator fit test as required for handling hazardous materials
