Job Summary:
The Mission Critical Estimator supports the mission critical sales and operations staff in developing bid/proposal responses for data center / mission critical project opportunities and is tasked with making sure the estimates are complete and updated as needed. This is a fast paced job and requires a sense of urgency and attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for network cabling systems, including materials, labor, travel, tooling costs, and other expenses.
- Prepare detailed bid proposals and ensure alignment with project budgets and client expectations.
- Review and interpret project drawings, and specifications to assess the scope of work.
- Identify project requirements and constraints, ensuring clarity in all estimates.
- Collaborate with vendors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and equipment.
- Evaluate supplier proposals to ensure quality and compliance with project standards
- Work closely with sales, project managers, engineers, and design teams to ensure estimates align with project and company goals.
- Provide clear and concise reporting on cost estimates, revisions, and project changes.
- Identify potential risks and challenges in cabling projects, proposing solutions to mitigate them.
- Incorporate contingency planning into cost estimates to account for unforeseen variables.
- Ensure all estimates adhere to industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI) and client-specific requirements.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in network cabling.
Minimum Requirements:
Technical Expertise:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in cost estimation, with a focus on network cabling and data center infrastructure.
- In-depth understanding of network cabling systems, including structured cabling, fiber optics, copper cabling, and pathways.
- Familiarity with hyperscale data center environments and mission-critical operations.
- Knowledge of power, cooling, and cable management systems in data centers.
Software Proficiency:
- Advanced skills in estimation software (e.g. Excel, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar tools).
- Competence in CAD/Revit software for reviewing layouts and designs is a plus.
Certifications & Education:
- Relevant industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) or DCDC (Data Center Design Consultant) are strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Telecommunications or a related field is strongly preferred
Analytical Skills:
- Ability to analyze complex technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong mathematical and financial modeling skills for cost estimation.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
Experience:
- Proven track record of estimating for large-scale or hyperscale infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with mission-critical environments where precision and reliability are paramount.
Pay Rate:
$75,000 - $130,000/year
