We are seeking a skilled and driven Controller to manage our financial operations and partner with leadership to ensure informed decision-making and long-term financial success. This role plays a critical part in our mission of "Creating Better Experiences...The Modern Way."

 

Position Purpose:

As Controller, you will oversee all aspects of financial reporting and planning, manage the accounting team, and contribute to the company’s strategic growth. You will serve as a trusted financial advisor to the Executive Team and foster a collaborative environment aligned with Team Modern’s values: Optimistic Energy, Fairness, Teamwork, Customer Focus, and Gratitude.

Key Responsibilities


-Financial Leadership:

  • Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Facilitate month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Management of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and General Ledger processes
  • Presentation of financial results to the Executive Team monthly and to the Board quarterly.
  • Oversee system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Management of corporate cash position.
  • Manage the relationship with outside CPA firms for tax and financial review processes.

-Planning & Analysis:

  • Assist in the creation and modification of the annual financial plan.
  • Review performance-to-plan results to measure success and identify improvement areas.
  • Conduct monthly financial reviews with Division Leaders, offering insights and recommendations to support their operations.
  • Identify accounting and financial issues and suggest appropriate solutions.

-Team Management:

  • Lead and develop the accounting staff, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Assign, review, and ensure timely completion of team deliverables.

-Other Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and government regulations.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly sales and excise tax reporting.
  • Work with Company Leadership on various projects and initiatives.
  • Any additional task assigned by manager; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and guidelines.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will demonstrate competence in both technical expertise and leadership capabilities.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 7 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including experience in a supervisory role.
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger systems.
  • Experience preparing and presenting financial statements and plans.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
