We are the state’s trusted neutral broker and convener, and we couple collaboration with strategic investment of public and private funds to accelerate Pennsylvania’s economy.
We convene cross-sector collaboratives on the most transformative economic opportunities in Pennsylvania: agriculture, energy, and manufacturing, with plans to launch a future collaboration in life sciences and innovation/technology. Each collaborative includes the commonwealth’s top policy-makers and business leaders, as well as leaders of labor, academia, and nonprofits.
Together, we tackle the issues that no one sector can address alone to position Pennsylvania as a leader among states and a competitor among nations, maximizing impact for the commonwealth while creating equity and economic opportunity for all Pennsylvanians.
The Position
The Energy Director will oversee Team Pennsylvania’s energy portfolio of work, including leading the Pennsylvania Energy Horizons Cross-Sector Collaborative and related activities. Staff and support Senior Vice President, Impact and Innovation, on all energy-related work, as well as other staff and Team Pennsylvania Board members where appropriate. Serve as Team Pennsylvania’s energy subject matter expert.
The following focus areas will be key for this role in the coming year:
Lead energy portfolio and partnerships (55%)
- Serve as liaison between Team Pennsylvania and key energy stakeholders across public sector, private industry, academia, labor, and nonprofits, as a conduit for other energy resources as a content expert;
- Lead the Pennsylvania Energy Horizons Cross-Sector Collaborative, overseeing meeting facilitation, content, coordination, communications, and participants;
- Foster strong engagement, a fertile ecosystem, relationships and strategic dialogue across public, private, academic, nonprofit and labor stakeholders related to manufacturing through the Collaborative;
- Build and sustain momentum of the Collaborative as a forum for supporting state-level strategic growth opportunities in the energy sector, discerning timely strategic topics and follow-on actions, including with a strong leadership group;
- Leverage and deploy Team Pennsylvania’s resources to advance and implement priorities established through cross-sector collaboration;
- Lead or support advancing strategic projects/initiatives to advance growth of energy sector in the Commonwealth, based on strategic priorities determined by Impact and Innovation team;
- Advance existing and future work in opportunities that maximize all Pennsylvanians’ ability to participate fully in the economy.
Develop energy communications (15%)
- Develop messaging and oversee internal and external communications of Team Pennsylvania’s work related to energy;
- Create LinkedIn articles or posts, thought leadership pieces, white papers, op-eds, etc. related to energy for publication.
Manage energy grants, development, and budget (20%)
- Pursue, develop, and/or lead energy grants and programs, including grant writing, project management, progress tracking and reporting, invoice management and approval, and ROI tracking and reporting, working in partnership with Team Pennsylvania staff;
- Leverage public, private, corporate, and philanthropic foundation grants and funds to support the energy portfolio of work;
- Work with key staff to identify any energy initiative budget priorities;
- Assist with the energy investment strategy, ensuring synergy with overall development efforts, in partnership with Team Pennsylvania staff.
Engage in organizational activities (10%)
- Manage interns, fellows, and staff pertaining to energy portfolio of work and activities;
- Participate in Team Pennsylvania meetings and events – even those unrelated to energy work – including but not limited to Board of Director activities, Impact and Innovation team discussions, and staff meetings.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.), Master’s degree in Public Policy, or at least five years of related professional experience; (Required)
- Maintains knowledge of and connections to both state and national initiatives, organizations, and stakeholders in the energy field, particularly in terms of high-growth opportunities; (Required)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, Slack, artificial intelligence tools, and other technology tools that advance the portfolio of work; (Required)
- Ability to travel to the Harrisburg office regularly; attend board and events as needed; participate in conferences and events that advance Pennsylvania’s energy opportunities in Harrisburg, around Pennsylvania, and occasionally nationally or globally. (Required)
