Position Summary
The primary nursing responsibilities would involve providing care and support to clients who
are undergoing treatment for substance abuse and/or mental health disorders. This role is crucial in helping clients through the recovery process and ensuring their well-being.
Job Functions/Duties:
- Conduct follow up assessments of clients to determine their physical and mental health status, including reviewing their substance abuse history and any co-occurring conditions.
- Monitor clients throughout their treatment to assess their progress and address any issues that may arise.
- Assess clients in an individual or group setting who are experiencing active withdrawal while providing a safe and supportive environment.
- Administer medications as prescribed by medical providers in an inpatient setting.
- Provide education to clients and their families about addiction, recovery, and mental health treatment options, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Teach clients about medication management, coping skills, and strategies for relapse prevention.
- Work closely with medical providers, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for clients.
- Respond to emergencies and crises within the facility, such as code blue, overdose situations, or clients experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms.
- Provide immediate medical care and interventions to stabilize clients and ensure their safety.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including client assessments, treatment plans, medication administration records, and progress notes.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards related to client confidentiality and record-keeping.
- Offer emotional support and guidance to clients and their families throughout the recovery process.
- Help clients develop coping skills, set goals for recovery, and navigate challenges they may face during treatment.
- Advocate for clients' needs and collaborate with community resources to provide comprehensive care.
- Make referrals to external healthcare providers, support groups, or social services as needed to support long-term recovery.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance client care and outcomes.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards,
and best practices in addiction and mental health treatment. - Other duties as assigned within the medical department.
Education/License
- Graduated from an accredited college or technical school with a minimum of a Licensed Practical Nurse certification
- Valid Ohio LPN License
- BLS CPR Certification
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience working in addition recovery and/or behavior health field.
