What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Fishing Skills Instructor position at Teamworks Adventure Camp - Westford?
Teamworks Adventure Camp in Westford is seeking a Fishing Specialist to teach campers the basics and gradually more advanced fishing skills on the beautiful shores of Burgess Pond in Westford, MA. This position requires a person with a safety mindset who is comfortable and patient working with children. It is critical you have a calm demeanor and enjoy being outdoors! We would prefer someone with experience fishing as many of our campers will be new to the sport and we want them to learn and grow in their time here with us this summer! Please note you must be 18 for this position.
Duties:
- Teach fishing skills to campers ages 9-14 from beginner to intermediate
- Conduct routine maintenance of camp equipment as well as inventorying
- Discuss and give suggestions for inventory with camp director
- Monitor campers as they fish to be sure of proper form and good sportsmanship to peers
- Be comfortable teaching about eco system as we are on conservation land z
- Be respectful of the environment as we are a catch-and-release program, no exception
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure safe delivery of campers for lunch
Skills:
- Strong desire and love for all things fishing in a catch-and-release eco-system
- Knowledge of fishing equipment, instruction and patience with children
- Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records of inventory
- Proficiency in untangling lines, repairing equipment and handling injuries if they come up
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Attention to detail to ensure the well-being of the fishing Specialty Camp
