Global Trade Manager
What Will You Do?
The Global Trade Manager will lead and oversee the movement of shipments through the supply chain by ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs requirements and providing accurate documentation. This role is responsible for the timely and accurate fulfillment and delivery of imported, exported, and domestically transported goods. The manager will coordinate with vendors, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and transportation carriers to facilitate efficient global trade operations.
The Global Trade Manager reports to the Head of General Purchasing and Global Trade and manages the Global Trade Section.
General Summary
- Lead global trade operations, including customs clearance, transportation, and Free Trade Agreements (FTA) compliance, with a focus on cost, quality, and supplier controls.
- Recruit, train, and manage employees, providing work directives, performance feedback, and evaluations.
- Collaborate with internal departments, external partners, and regulatory organizations to support trade operations.
- Participate in purchasing department meetings and ensure clear communication of trade-related updates.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Global Trade organization, fostering a positive work culture and improving employee job satisfaction.
- Develop and implement global trade work procedures and operational processes.
- Ensure compliance with Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) regulations and other customs requirements.
- Oversee logistics management and compliance with the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program.
- Manage trade cost structures related to USMCA and other trade agreements within a manufacturing environment.
- Conduct annual CTPAT audits, evaluate compliance, and report findings to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
- Oversee country-of-origin compliance for imports and exports, ensuring strategic alignment with trade agreements.
- Coordinate ocean, air, and truck transportation from point of import to final destination.
- Arrange expedited transportation as needed to support production schedules.
- Monitor and analyze container utilization rates to optimize logistics efficiency.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in global trade and logistics operations.
- Develop and execute global trade strategies that support business objectives.
- Manage supplier relationships and global trade systems, ensuring seamless operations.
- Oversee transportation and customs clearance processes for key imported components and general purchasing items.
- Ensure adherence to trade policies and procedures while managing stakeholder expectations.
- Provide monthly reports on trade operations and performance.

What You Will Bring to the Role:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in U.S. customs clearance and transportation, including FTA, FTZ, ISF, CTPAT, USMCA, and KORUS compliance.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
- Direct experience with import and export processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent applications.
- Strong understanding of external market trends and trade regulations.
- Hands-on experience in customs clearance and transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the automotive or related industry.
- 7 years of experience in freight forwarding.
- 10 years of supervisory experience, including customs brokerage.
- Extensive procurement experience in a related field.
