What You'll Do
- Lead quality assurance operations at larger or more complex production sites, ensuring compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FSMA) and regulatory requirements.
- Manage and mentor a larger team of quality professionals, including multiple supervisors, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure product safety and consistency.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Investigate and resolve complex quality-related issues, including customer complaints and non-conformances, by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain, R&D, and senior leadership, to address quality concerns and support business objectives.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, providing strategic insights and recommendations to site and corporate leadership.
- Lead external audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring all documentation and processes are audit-ready.
- Provide training and support to site employees on quality standards, food safety practices, and company policies.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in quality assurance and food safety.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, including HACCP, GMP, FSMA, and ISO 22000.
- Proven experience managing larger teams, including multiple supervisors, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence senior leadership.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and quality management software.
- Certification in food safety (e.g., PCQI, SQF Practitioner) is a plus.
