TRAFFIC CLERK - ATWATER, CA
- Target Pay Range = $20.00/hrly to $21.29/hrly
Overview:
The Traffic Clerk plays a pivotal role in coordinating the transportation of goods for the facility. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, this position is responsible for efficiently scheduling and dispatching transportation vehicles, ensuring timely delivery of products, and maintaining communication with drivers and transportation partners to optimize logistics operations.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate the dispatching of transportation vehicles, including trucks and drivers, to ensure timely pickup and delivery of raw materials, finished goods, and supplies to and from the food manufacturing facility.
- Communicate with drivers, transportation partners, and internal departments to coordinate delivery schedules, provide directions, and resolve issues or delays in transportation operations.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to prioritize loading and unloading activities, ensure efficient use of warehouse space, and maintain accurate records of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies, including proper handling and securing of goods, adherence to delivery schedules, and completion of required documentation.
- Communicate with customers, suppliers, and vendors to confirm delivery schedules, address delivery inquiries or concerns, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Monitor transportation costs, analyze transportation data, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in transportation operations.
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including driver logs, delivery manifests, and transportation expenses, and prepare reports on transportation performance and metrics as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including logistics, procurement, customer service, and production, to optimize transportation processes and support overall business objectives.
What You'll Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in transportation, logistics, or dispatching roles, with at least 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, routing software, and GPS tracking systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with drivers, transportation partners, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), dispatching software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on resolving transportation issues and optimizing logistics operations.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and HACCP principles.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team to achieve transportation objectives and support warehouse operations.
