Job purpose

The Project Manager is responsible for developing and delivering projects from conception through completion. Working with a diverse group of employees and contractor personnel, the Project Manager will have the accountability of delivering multiple capital projects which include equipment replacements, efficiency and quality improvements, and safety / environmental enhancements.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

Promotes and enforces safety principals and Global Life Saving Rules and ensures contractor compliance.

Plan and lead the development of engineering / design, construction and inspection / QC strategies for multiple projects up to $30mm / year.

Responsible for the safe design and installation of projects, in particular safety during the execution of the project.

Champion safe work practices among his / her work group and contractors.

Account for all aspects of project performance including schedule, cost, operation, reliability and close out.

Ensure projects comply with applicable government and company regulations, policies and standards.

Interface with other plant departments to share project design, priority and status information.

Work with the Procurement department to procure materials and services as required, including the Storehouse Manager for parts and capital spares associated with assigned projects.

Participates in the MOC process, performs MOC reviews on all projects involving change to process equipment and operations.

Works as a job representative for outside contractors working in the plant.

Participates in audits, inspections and interviews, including BBS, housekeeping, safety Principles, etc.

Participate and assist as needed during plant outages and turnarounds. This may include longer hours.

Education & experience

BS in Engineering / Construction Science or work experience in manufacturing environment, preferably the chemical industry.

minimum of 5 years of experience in the refining or petrochemical industry.

Previous experience with project scope definition and work package generation

Previous experience in project management and project scheduling

Previous experience in construction / maintenance

Previous experience with the oversite and management of contract workforce

Physical requirements :

Ability to climb fixed ladder cages at heights of 30 ft. at a time. Total of 200 ft. (Employee may need ladders as means of egress during emergency).

Ability to climb 6 flights of stairs.

Ability to enter enclosed spaces through 18” man-way for cleaning and inspection purposes.

Ability to lift 50 lb.

Ability to wear required PPE : Hardhat, safety glasses, chemical goggles, face shield, rigid safety shoes / boots, full / half face cartridge masks.

Ability to work length of time outdoors / inclement weather.

Job specific : Climbing, balance, bend / stoop, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying.

Need to evaluate understanding of proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.
