Accounting Supervisor- Career and Technical Education
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Administrative Assistant to oversee and manage local, state, and federal funding related to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and compliance monitoring. This position plays a critical role in ensuring fiscal responsibility, accurate reporting, and adherence to funding regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- Experience in fund accounting, grant management, or education finance preferred.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal CTE funding requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets (Excel), and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform budget analysis and prepare budget material for all CTE funds, including budget development and budget revisions.
- Perform MDE-required reporting for CTE
- Monitor account activity and communicate with appropriate staff regarding budget variances.
- Prepare monthly credit card reconciliations.
- Keep abreast of all statutes, administrative rules, and Michigan Department of Education interpretations to ensure compliance and accuracy of CTE funds.
- Prepare bank deposits
- Purchase order processing/online receiving.
- Responsible for year-end CTE documentation, including inventory, petty cash reconciliation, and any other necessary financial reports.
- Familiar with financial account code structure as outlined in the Michigan Public School Accounting Manual.
- Verify CTE payroll/leave time for accuracy prior to submitting to payroll
- Ensure RESA financial internal controls are being followed.
- Provide oversight to the catering department and food service coordinator.
- Complete monthly CTE report for the Board of Education.

NOTABLE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Some light lifting and general mobility around the campus area are frequently necessary.
TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a school office, classroom environment and in other SCCRESA buildings. Most work is performed at the St. Clair County Career Tech Center campus.
EVALUATION: Employees in this classification are evaluated according to current Board policy.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADVANCEMENT: Advancement would be possible within the St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: This position is a 260 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. Vacation, holidays, and sick time are paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus 2 or Defined Contribution).
SALARY RANGE: $43,000-$46,000
