What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Operations Architect position at TEC?
BASIC JOB SUMMARY:
The overall purpose of this job is to provide high level network design and support for TEC’s broadband network and other projects as assigned by the Director of Network Operations. This job requires advanced intellectual knowledge, concepts, practices, and procedures in and related to the telecom broadband and networking industry. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This position may perform a variety of tasks. A wide degree of design knowledge, broadband concepts, creativity, and service provider network experience is expected.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Design, maintain, and support routing technologies, subscriber layer transport operations and end-to-end transport connectivity within TEC’s multi-state broadband network.
- Extensive and in depth understanding of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, Protocol hierarchy. Routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and MPLS including the underlay/overlay design principles and implementation using VxLAN, EVPN and L2VPN/L3VPN.
- Execute the provisioning and maintenance of IPv4 and IPv6 based devices, networks and Internet services provided to client companies and their customers.
- Extensive and in depth understanding of broadband provider technology including but not limited to, xPON architecture, Multi-Service Access Platforms, distribution architecture and systems.
- Practical experience of implementing networking systems such as firewalls, load balancers, CGNAT appliances and operational management systems.
- Ability to quickly analyze and evaluate multiple networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently.
- Design, implement and troubleshoot related access, distribution and core network infrastructure.
- Ability to engage with other carriers and service providers
- Comprehensive time management skills with ability to adapt and pivot between multiple projects.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design, implementation, configuration, and commissioning.
- Communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology.
