TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School (TECCA) is a tuition-free virtual public school district that employs over 200 faculty and staff, serving our diverse population of approximately 3,000 students in Grades K–12 from cities and towns across Massachusetts.
Position and Responsibilities:
Working a minimum of 2 days from the office in East Walpole, Massachusetts, for the first 90 school days, the Interim High School Assistant Principal will be responsible for the following:
Demonstrates high expectations and an unwavering belief that all students can and will achieve at high levels.
Supports meaningful and productive high school leadership meetings.
Is an active and engaging member of the Learning Leadership Team.
Plans, attends, and participate in school events
Work collaboratively with other high school faculty and staff to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the curriculum in meaningfully ways.
Consults with other faculty, staff, and learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs to increase student engagement and academic achievement.•Plans and facilitates monthly school assemblies for the high school.
Supervises and evaluates High School faculty and staff as assigned by the High School Principal
Other duties as assigned by the HS Principal
Assists in preparing and implementing the school budget
Assists in developing school LiveLesson schedule
Assists in recruitment, screening, hiring, training, and assigning of department personnel according to district procedures
Organizes and supports enrollment procedures in advance of the start of school and during school year
Develops and updates IA Guide for school staff
Responds to instances of student misconduct, including communication with staff and caretakers
Supports planning of field trips and other student activities and events
Coordinates student assemblies
Organizes and supports substitute teachers
Assist teachers in developing and maintaining effective and engaging teaching methods in a virtual environment
Develop innovative engagement strategies, preventative approaches, and proactive plans for students who exhibit at-risk behaviors or a lack of engagement in school
Provide direct supervision of school-based events and programs
Respond to all Caretaker, Learning Coach, and student inquiries within 24 hours, including WebMails, GMails, and phone calls in a timely manner
Helps plan and implement school-based professional development as appropriate
