Anticipated Opening-Family and Engagement Specialist (HS SPED)

School Summary: TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School (TECCA) is a tuition-free virtual public school district that employs over 200 faculty and staff, serving our diverse population of approximately 3,000 students in Grades K–12 from cities and towns across Massachusetts. Duration of Contract: This position is for the remainder of the school year 2024-25 and may become a full time position for the 2025-26 school year dependent on Board of Directors approval. Position and Responsibilities: The Family Engagement Specialist (FES) will support school efforts to provide attendance and behavioral interventions to re-engage students and families. Working to ensure students are attending school regularly, and are meeting the minimum number of classroom hours, the FES will work with school personnel to ensure student compliance as outlined in our TECCA Student Handbook. Run and analyze the various reports that monitor student attendance for compliance and early-warning-intervention signals Work closely with staff to evaluate and advise on issues of attendance, truancy, and behavior Utilize TECCA’s communication systems to connect applicable stakeholders Follow-up with students to monitor their Truancy Intervention Completion Implement disciplinary actions in accordance with policies defined by the TECCA Student Handbook, including holding detentions, and in-school suspensions Work with child reporting agencies, as appropriate Other duties outlined in the Employee Handbook and as assigned by the school principal.
