Key Responsibilities:
- Network Protocol Management:
- Oversee Layer 2 and 3 protocols, including routers and switches.
- Monitor network throughput and mitigate performance issues.
- Infrastructure Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Proactively manage connectivity for various network components (campus, backbone, LAN, partner networks).
- Use tools like SolarWinds for monitoring and dashboard creation.
- Network Architecture Optimization:
- Review and enhance network architecture for performance, failover, and reliability.
- Ensure secure segmentation for sensitive data (e.g., PCI, financial, customer).
- Network Device Management:
- Apply patches and updates for routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Ensure logs are appropriately sent to SIEM and reviewed.
- Cloud Integration:
- Design and support network and security in cloud environments (public, private, hybrid).
- Address capacity, failover, and security considerations.
- Vulnerability Management:
- Conduct vulnerability scans to secure network segments, databases, and applications.
- Assist in forensic analysis and threat intelligence.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain network diagrams and change documentation.
- Ensure adherence to NIST and organizational security standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience:
- 5–7 years in:
- Layer 2/3 protocols and network troubleshooting.
- Private, public, and hybrid cloud infrastructures (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Unix (RedHat), Windows, VMware platforms.
- 2–3 years with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Rapid7 Nexpose).
- Certifications:
- Required:
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
- CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
- Preferred:
- CCDA (Cisco Certified Design Associate).
- CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert).
