Position Summary:
The individual will provide day-to-day support and maintenance for various network systems, including wireless networks. The role involves proactive monitoring to ensure network stability and service across multiple platforms. They will configure and troubleshoot network components and work closely with vendors to resolve issues while maintaining network management tools for fault identification.
Job Responsibilities:
- Network Configuration:
- Manage startup and running configurations for network switches.
- Perform network setups from DMARC to workstations, including fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, and topology for high QoS.
- Communicate with the Information Security Team regarding firewall rules.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor protocol compatibility and tune the system for improvement.
- Maintain and troubleshoot LAN, WLAN, and WAN networks, multiplexers, routers, hubs, and use remote monitoring tools.
- Planning & Risk Assessment:
- Perform capacity/resource planning.
- Assess network risks and create contingency plans.
- Network Management:
- Maintain network management applications for identifying faults.
- Support the movement of data and ensure customer access across multiple locations.
- Accurately track incidents and equipment relocations via service desk ticketing systems.
- Physical & Travel Requirements:
- Travel to remote locations for network maintenance and upgrades.
- Participate in after-hours on-call rotations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for physical tasks.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Contribute to Property Management Reports (PMRs) and track assets.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring timely problem resolution.
Required Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or a Technical Institute Degree/Certificate in Information Systems or related field. Equivalent experience can substitute for formal education.
- Experience: 1-3 years in IT infrastructure/networking. Experience with HPE/Aruba networking equipment is highly desirable.
- Certifications: Networking certifications (CCNA, Network , etc.) are preferred.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of OSI model, system tuning, firewall configurations, and network protocols.
