Position Overview:
Strong customer service skills are essential for this role, as the position involves direct interaction with end users to ensure the smooth operation of desktop and end-user computing systems. The successful candidate will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support while participating in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of software and hardware for both local and remote IT users.
Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Configure and install software for desktops and laptops used by IT users.
- Install and roll out new software packages and upgrades.
- Install and maintain desktop hardware, including new deployments.
- Maintain and update desktop software and hardware inventory.
- Provide technical support to a mobile workforce.
- Deliver Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for end-user computing systems, including desktop-based LAN systems.
- Troubleshoot standard IT issues independently or with the aid of guidelines.
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to Tier 3 support as needed.
- Document technical problems and their resolutions thoroughly.
- Conduct informal end-user training when required.
- Participate in the evaluation and testing of new desktop software and hardware packages.
- Assist in implementing pilot prototypes for new desktop technologies.
