Position: Senior Linux Engineer (Consulting Position)
Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite at MetroTech Center, Brooklyn, NY / 2 days remote)
Work Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Are you an experienced Linux Engineer passionate about supporting mission-critical systems? We are seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to play a key role in maintaining and optimizing UNIX/Linux-based infrastructure for our client.
Responsibilities:
- Engineer and administer Veritas products (Cluster Server, Volume Manager, File System, and replication technologies).
- Manage and optimize OpenShift for container orchestration, application deployment, and workload management.
- Automate system deployments and configurations using Ansible.
- Administer Infoblox DNS for IP address management (IPAM), DNS, and DHCP services.
- Analyze and optimize UNIX system performance.
- Engineer and manage SUN/UNIX/Linux systems supporting mission-critical applications.
- Administer SAN storage in UNIX/Linux environments.
- Manage both physical and virtual servers (Red Hat Linux, Solaris, AIX).
- Support key infrastructure tools including Oracle Database, MySQL, DB2, VMware, and more.
- Perform OS upgrades and patch installations to maintain security and stability.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash/KSH, Perl, and Python.
- Provision and maintain systems for optimal performance and reliability.
Required Qualifications:
- 12 years of experience as a Linux Engineer.
- Expertise in Ansible: Creating, managing, and optimizing playbooks; troubleshooting scripts; and integrating Ansible with enterprise systems.
- Strong knowledge of OpenShift: Managing and deploying containerized applications; understanding of architecture, security policies, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux): System management, performance tuning, and security hardening.
- Virtualization experience: Managing virtual machines and optimizing virtual environments (e.g., VMware).
- Infoblox DNS expertise: Managing DNS, DHCP, and IPAM services and automating configurations.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Percona database solutions (MySQL, MongoDB) and performance optimization.
- Experience with Dialogic XMS (Media Server) for multimedia service deployments.
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining TimeKeeper for time synchronization.
- Expertise in managing SSL/TLS certificates and understanding PKI.
