Service Technician Job Description

As a Service Technician at Tech Electronics, your main function will be to respond to and resolve complex service calls, providing technical support and troubleshooting to Tech Electronics customers. You will be responsible for ensuring system uptime and efficiency for customers with various products installed, including life safety, fire, and security systems, as well as their associated computer systems. In addition to troubleshooting and repair, you may also be assigned responsibilities related to the technical delivery of small service jobs, time and work material, and preventive maintenance.


Essential Job Duties

  • Independently troubleshoot and repair complex fire alarm, security and other systems
  • Program Fire Alarm Panels and Security Systems for minor moves adds and changes
  • Perform Windows Server system backups and install appropriate updates and patches
  • Apply knowledge of virtual machines, system imaging, and networking to serve customer needs
  • Complete required documentation for work performed or other contractual obligations
  • Proper use of safety personal protection equipment
  • Obtain necessary security clearances as required by customers
  • Maintains an understanding of all local and national codes applicable to Tech Electronics' systems and ensures systems adhere to these codes.
  • Maintains truck stock as specified by the Service Supervisor and/or Service Operations Manager to increase first-call completion of assigned service calls; provides feedback to the Service Supervisor regarding changes to truck stock to increase first-call completion.
  • Obtains and maintains manufacturer and industry certifications as scheduled by the Service Supervisor and/or Service Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for suggesting methods to improve operations, processes, efficiency, and service to both internal and external customers.
  • Completes other tasks as designated by the manager or supervisor

Basic Qualificaitons

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED
  • Level 1: Proven electro-mechanical aptitude (based on previous experience and/or education) and user PC/software skill; proficient in Microsoft Office. Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 1 within 18 months
  • Level 2: 1 years' experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems and obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 2 within 12 months.
  • Ability to obtain Denver fire alarm license
  • Must be able to differentiate types/colors of wire; use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet; carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
  • Five years working in the electronics field where AC/DC theory is used daily
  • Detailed working knowledge of the National Electric Code and the ICC International Building Code.

Salary : $17 - $43
