Direct Support Professional - Day Services - Production Facility

Provides personal care, training, supervision, and assessment to clients as prescribed in Person Centered Support Plans (PCSP) and agency policy.

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) at the TECH Production Facility is a unique job aimed at assisting individuals with an Intellectual / Developmental Disability work and earn a wage, which helps foster independence and a sense of self-worth to our persons served at TECH. Our DSPs support these clients as they come to work every day at our sheltered workshop!

The TECH Training Center in Hutchinson, Kansas, provides training and jobs for people with disabilities. The jobs are made possible through partnerships with local and regional companies that have a need for various job tasks to be completed. Current outsourcing projects include document destruction, product reclamation, packaging and item assembly.

Specific duties are :

• Provides care and reports progress on a daily basis and as required by the PCSP
• Attend to the personal needs of each client in a timely and efficient manner. Such duties include : feeding, restroom needs, dressing, medication administration, and first aid needs.
• Assist clients in maintaining a healthy living environment by following processes in place for any facility or vehicle maintenance and addressing safety concerns
• Transportation of clients via motor vehicle or assists with arranging public transportation.
• Assist clients to develop their social and communication skills while encouraging community integration.
• Constructively communicate inter-departmentally to ensure service delivery to clients.
• Participates as an active and contributing member of client's Person-Centered Support Plan team.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

Required : Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Preferred : One year of experience in the IDD field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Required : Valid and Current Driver's License is required for all positions.

COMMUNICATION

Ability to partner with various levels of staff and persons served. Have a moderate level of written and oral communication skills.

Direct Support Professionals work within various capacities, locations and hours of the day

Residential DSP

Provides care to individuals within a home like environment. Employees schedules can be day hours, nighttime (awake) hours, weekdays and / or weekends. 24 / 7. Full time (30 or more hours a week) or part time (17.5 hours a week) schedules are available.

Day Services DSP

Adult Life Skills Facility : Provides care for people we serve in a group setting. Employee schedules are weekdays and daytime hours. These employees do not work on TECH, Inc. observed holidays.

Work Center Facility : Provides work opportunities and assistance in a group setting. Employee schedules are weekdays and daytime hours. These employees do not work on TECH, Inc. observed holidays.

Provides care for people we serve within our art studio. Employee schedules are weekdays and daytime hours. These employees do not work on TECH, Inc. observed holidays. For this position, applicants would need to provide a portfolio of art and can produce art of many medias, as well as coach and inspire others.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and to inside wet and / or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals as used in cleaning, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
