Job description
Caregivers at TECH, Inc. play a key role in the lives of ADULTS with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A DSP provides a wide range of personalized care to their consumers to enhance their quality of life and support their independence. You have the opportunity to share in their success and support them through their struggles, while building lasting relationships.
Start wage : $14.00 per hour with potential to increase to $14.25 / hour after first 90 days of employment. Overnight shifts are eligible for additional pay. A DSP could perform the following functions, but are not limited to the following :
- Personal Hygiene : Assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Meal Preparation : Preparing and serving meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
- Medication Management : Administering medications and ensuring they are taken correctly.
- Medical Appointments : accompanying individuals to medical appointments.
- Exercise and Physical Activity : Encouraging and assisting with physical activities to promote fitness and health.
- Health Monitoring : Observing and reporting any changes in health conditions or behaviors.
- Companionship : Providing emotional support and companionship to reduce feelings of isolation.
- Social Activities : Planning and participating in social activities, outings, and community integration.
- Advocacy : Offering advocacy in personal, educational, and employment matters.
- Life Skills Training : Teaching skills such as money management, cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
- Communication Skills : Assisting with the development of communication skills.
- Behavioral Interventions : Implementing and monitoring behavior support plans.
- Crisis Intervention : Providing support during behavioral crises and de-escalating situations as needed.
- Positive Reinforcement : Encouraging positive behaviors through reinforcement techniques.
- Housekeeping : Assisting with cleaning, laundry, and other household chores. Particularly important for overnight staff.
- Shopping : Helping with grocery shopping and running errands.
- Safety and Security : Ensuring a safe living environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
Person-Centered Planning : Developing and implementing individualized support plans based on the consumer's goals, preferences, and needs.
Goal Setting : Helping individuals set and achieve personal goals.
Regular Reviews : Continuously assessing and adjusting support plans to meet changing needs and preferences.
