Job Description
Job Title: Sr. Investigator - Biology
Location: Cambridge, MA
Duration: 18 months contract with possible more extension
Description:
Leads the decision-making process for establishing multidisciplinary project/program goals within the team or matrix working group(s) and drives their completion (with other units in client and/or external partners).
Maintains state of the art knowledge of emerging scientific/technological trends and successfully applies those to advance department/Division strategy & objectives.
Builds and empowers a matrix, cross-functional community in specific scientific or technical area.
Directly leads a diverse team, including setting achievable, developmental objectives, or builds matrix team objectives and integrates work across multiple labs. Develops constructive culture within direct and matrix team(s); role-models giving and accepting constructive feedback, creates an extended team dynamic of open communication.
Mentors' others to develop their own leadership capabilities and identifies/develops talent across the organization, and/or creates a constructive culture and enables talent development within own scientific/technical community.
Links scientific strategy with specific objectives in novel areas that will lead to fundamental insights or new discoveries, through flexible matrix communities and/or direct team leadership and empowerment, including collaborations with external partners to bring new knowledge into the department/Division.
Develops innovative research, technology and/or early development projects with team, and/or enables internal multidisciplinary teams to progress assets through the department pipeline.
Identifies and validates molecular targets that play a key role in a particular disease process.
Studies origin, relationship, development, anatomy, functions, and chemical processes of living organisms. Analyzes materials to determine their toxic or nontoxic properties, binding and efficacy. Isolates or purifies analyses, and identifies hormones, minerals, proteins, and/or cultures of microorganisms to determine their biological properties.
Examines and conducts research on chemical aspects chemistry of cells and cell division.
Requires an understanding of one or more of the following: molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, biophysics, virology and/or immunology.
May identify and produce small quantities of new drugs, pharmaceutical compounds and/or nutrients.
May develop an assay which employs in vitro and/or in vivo biological and immunological systems.
