Receiving Inspection Inspector
Reports to: Quality Manager Work Location: Clear Lake, SD
Functional Area: Quality Required Travel: None
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: DOE
Schedule: 4-10 hour days
Job Summary: The Inspector will perform visual and dimensional inspection on non-energetic product received from external sources as well as internally manufactured product. Inspection includes the review of documentation to ensure compliance with customer flow requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Examines supplier documentation to verify conformance to requirements.
- Inspects product to determine compliance with order specifications, Tech Ord’s Quality Management System and conformity with shipping and packaging standards.
- Reports product nonconformance by following the Tech Ord NCR process.
- Assists in reducing hazardous waste by operational proficiency.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
- Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
- Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A background in quality assurance process and/or in production environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with common measuring instruments as well as conventional and geometric tolerance is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel and Word; and ability to learn and become proficient in using our internal computer applications.
- Understanding of ISO requirements upon hire.
- Function Specific RCRA training upon hire.
- Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
- Ability to work effectively with other employees as part of a team as well as ability to work independently to accomplish tasks using time management skills with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills.

- Lifting of 10 pounds is required. Must be able to move materials by lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds occasionally, and rarely 50 pounds or more, both with assistance.
- Bending, squatting or kneeling is required in order to move materials as well as to perform other duties including filing materials.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.
- Extensive computer use required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives.
- Ear protection is required as identified throughout the facility.
- Where required, employees must wear a minimum of 50 percent cotton clothing including undergarments to mitigate electrostatic discharge (ESD). Employees must also wear company issued safety footwear.
