Mid level Data Analyst with at least 6 years of experience as an analyst
- Technical data analysis experience - analyzing large data sets and gaining meaningful insights (what size data sets have they worked with - FINRA's data sets are petabytes large)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills - good problem solvers
- Ability to query in SQL or Python (SQL required, Python highly desired)
- Must be able to do simple select, join, group by, windowing functions in SQL (windowing will be most complex SQL query required and where candidates typically fall short)
- Example: Look at trading data for the last month - can you give me overview of what happened? Must be able to create your own queries, own analysis, own prototype from scratch
- Example: Here is data on Olympic medals won - how many bronze medals have been won in North America? Must be able to walk through syntax and solution - interview is focused on practical application
- Strong communication skills and a mindset focused on users, results oriented, vision oriented, commitment, value focused, passionate, motivated
- Ability to work with nontechnical stakeholders (members of the business) and bridge the communication gap between the business, exchanges and technical teams
- Must be able to gather and create requirements and run meetings with business partners
