Summary / Objective
Plans, organizes, and manages all Engineering activities for the department to produce working drawings and specifications for all projects within its own office and may have the responsibility to assist other Managers of Engineering and Architecture at other offices.Capable of demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment.
Essential Functions

Collaborates with the Director of Engineering to determine long-range plans and objectives of the department.
Assures that Engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements, and company objectives.
Responsible for the quality of work and productivity of the Engineering department.
Participates in man-hour estimates for the design activities, delegates manpower assignments and provides guidance to subordinates
Gives professional input on the conceptual estimating of the components of a Step 1 proposal.
Interfaces with Director of Engineering and Design Project Managers to determine specific project staffing needs.
Participates in proposal presentations and business development activities.
Assists in the selection of new employees for the department and acts as a mentor to promote internal growth within the department.
Evaluates performance of subordinates and makes salary recommendations.

Ensure that Mechanical engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, local Codes and Energy standards. Ensure that services meet clients requirement and Companys objectives
Be responsible for the quality of work and productivity of Mechanical engineering section and ensures that mechanical engineering manhours spent fall with in established budgets and monitors project schedules
Assist in the selection of new employees for mechanical section and act as a mentor to promote internal growth within the department
Participate in manhour estimates for design and engineering activities, delegates manpower assignments and provides guidance to subordinates
Give professional input to the conceptual estimating of the mechanical component during Step 1 process
Interface with Director of Engineering and Project Managers to determine specific project staffing needs

Codes
Must meet the requirements of all previous positions
Maintain current knowledge of ASHRAE Standards, Building Energy Efficiency Codes and Life Safety Codes. Attend classes and or seminars to keep up to date with changes in Codes and standards
Must apply Codes requirements for design and construction procedures to meet changing priorities and industry trends
Promote subordinates to attend seminars or classes for Code updates
Ensure that up-to-date Codes and standards are available, and request Manager of Engineering for required updates
Software
Prepare modules for the project specific, train Level I and Level II designers
Must be capable to use Bluebeam for design reviews
Request Director of Engineering for update of current software installed on servers
Other Duties
Special projects as assigned.

Work environment
Work is primarily performed indoors.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
Must be able to the ability to climb stairs.
Travel Required
Yes, up to 25% travel may be necessary.
Required Education and Experience
16 , BS or MS in an Engineering discipline, Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
