Tech Wind Services provides specialized wind energy inspection and repair services for the North American market. Our company assists the wind farms during construction, operations, and preventive maintenance to guarantee clean and renewable wind energy power production. Each turbine we work on provides enough energy to power 3, 000 homes per month.
Job Summary: Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing environmental, health, and safety programs to support the safe and sustainable execution of wind projects.
This role ensures compliance with all regulatory standards while promoting a culture of safety and sustainability across operations and maintenance activities within the wind business.
The role will be primarily office-based but will require frequent travel to wind energy sites and wind farms, including both construction and operational facilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with global and local EHS regulations, including OSHA, ISO 14001/45001, and other relevant wind business standards.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments at wind energy sites.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols for high-risk activities, such as working at heights, electrical safety, confined spaces, etc.
- Provide support for Safety training and certifications for employees and contractors.
- Oversee environmental assessments and ensure adherence to permits and regulations.
- Develop programs to minimize the environmental impact of operations.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement environmentally sustainable practices and designs.
- Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes, lessons learned and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Maintain detailed records of incidents and EHS performance metrics, reporting findings to senior leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
- Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures specific to wind business ensuring alignment with corporate and industry best practices.
- Deliver training and awareness programs to employees and contractors on safety protocols, emergency response, and environmental stewardship.
- Act as an EHS subject matter expert and advisor during field jobs.
- Collaborate with regulatory authorities, auditors, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and transparency in EHS matters.
- Partner with internal teams (e.g., engineering, construction, and operations) to integrate EHS considerations into all stages.
- Analyze EHS data trends to drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
- Introduce innovative solutions to reduce risks, improve safety culture, and enhance environmental sustainability in wind energy projects.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS roles, preferably in renewable energy, wind energy, or heavy infrastructure projects
- Proven experience in managing safety and environmental programs in construction or energy operations.
- Must be a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent.
- Must have strong knowledge of EHS regulations and wind energy industry standards (e.g., IEC, OSHA, ISO).
- A GWO (Global Wind Organization) Certification is strongly preferred.
- An ISO 14001/45001 Lead Auditor Certification is preferred.
- Must have expertise in risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response planning.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Must be able to influence safety culture and engage diverse teams.
- Familiar with EHS Management systems and tools.
- Ability to work in challenging environments, including heights, adverse weather conditions, and remote locations.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass background and drug screening.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is a plus but not required.
