Teche Action Clinic, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for our WIC Patient Service Representative I position based in Franklin, Louisiana.
Job Summary:
To perform a variety of clerical duties that requires some independent judgment to accomplish in support of the staff member and/or operations of an organizational unit or program. Coordinates and manages WIC nutritional services program, work flow and schedule as directed by the WIC Coordinator in accordance with TAB and OPH guidelines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates ability to coordinate activities at the front desk associated with TAC WIC program by managing daily scheduling and clinic flow as directed by CPA and/or WIC Nutritionist.
- Process paperwork and/or enter data into department log or database in the servicing of clients.
- Demonstrates positive professional interactions with all those who are involved in direct contact to include WIC participants, coworkers, and other customers.
- Prepares, indexes, scans documents into imaging system; may ensure quality of scanned images.
- Collects and prepares for processing time and attendance sheets for department or office.
- Documents pertinent information in LaWIN as noted in State of Louisiana WIC policies involving appointments and basic nutrition education.
- Maintains department’s records system, including filing and retrieving documents, research files, etc.
- Schedules participants for appointments and follows up on missed appointments.
- Serves as clerical assistant to a manager, which may include keeping appointment schedule, preparing travel, issuing directives to others on their behalf, and relieving the manager of administrative matters.
- Participate in outreach programs to educate community organizations about eligible nutrition programs.
- Knowledgeable of basic food, health, and social assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, food banks, Head Start, etc. and refer participants to these local programs.
- Serves as receptionist for the assigned work unit
- Maintains logs and supplies as directed by WIC Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- One year of experience in which clerical work was a major duty.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma Required.
- Minimum 1 year of nutrition education or counseling, food service or clerical experience.
Skills:
Communication Ability
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate and establish rapport with others.
Math Ability:
- Basic math skills.
Reasoning Ability:
- Demonstrates ability to utilize skills and knowledge of nutrition to appropriately evaluate lab values and nutritional requirements in prescribing food packages and monitoring interventions of nutritional instructions.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret directives from supervisor and OPH personnel.
Computer Skills:
- Computer basics to include proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and the Internet.
- Knowledge of software applications and ability to generate reports.
Professional Skills:
- Knowledge of WIC program and experience implementing/coordinating a health services program helpful.
- Demonstrate organized approach to work with detail and an ability to multitask.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of human nutrition and clinical nutrition principles and practices.
- Adhere to the policy and procedures as regulated by TAC and State of Louisiana WIC program.

Eligibility Requirements:
- All employees must meet eligibility standards in order to be considered for the position applying for. Internal applicants must be with be with the organization for at least one year, with no disciplinary actions on file. If you have not been with the organization for a year, approval from your direct supervisor will be needed.
