Position: Production Lead

Job Description:

This position is responsible for manufacturing bird and grass seed in accordance with standard operating procedures established at the blending mill. They will operate the processing equipment according to established standard operating procedures. In addition to bird seed manufacturing, they will perform housekeeping activities, maintenance and repair of equipment, and quality checks on seed and ingredients and bin inventory. Also responsible for daily operations of the production floor; ensuring the shift meets established safety, quality, and production goals in compliance with all applicable legal and food safety requirements.

Essential Functions

• Daily activities of mill operations, ensuring product adheres to Prince's standard of safety, quality, and throughput to meet customer expectations.
• Communicates with Manager regarding any challenges and opportunities on the production lines to meet goals and schedules.
• Batch ingredients and preparing production lines for scheduled changeovers.
• Transfers and inspects raw materials prior to changeovers to ensure correct inventories for production runs.
• Performs first pass quality checks after changeovers to prevent non-conforming product. Returns raw materials after completion of production runs.
• Completes End of Month Inventory counts on ingredients and bags and reports for adjustments.
• Adheres to the highest standards of company and plant safety programs, guidelines, rules, and regulations.
• Operate bagging equipment to fill, weigh and sew seed bags. Stack filled bags on pallets.
• Operate a forklift to deliver product from the bagging area to appropriate warehouse location
• Rotate current inventory to maintain turns and prevent damage/obsolescence.
• Complete appropriate paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
• Collect and monitor samples in accordance with sampling plan
• Perform routine housekeeping in all areas of the mill including disposal of scrap and waste in the proper receptacles, keep floors free from spills and debris, return tools to their proper storage place when finished, and in proper working condition
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment

Supervisory Responsibility
This position may have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
There are no hazards in performing this position. Some heavy lifting up to 80 pounds may be required.

Physical Demands
Able to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift 80 pounds, climb ladders and operate a pallet jack with 2,000 pounds of material

Required Education And Experience
Minimum requirements may include a combination of work experience and education. Preferred qualifications:

• 4 years’ experience in industry lead production operation or similar manufacturing environment
• 2 years’ experience managing people

Minimum Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in industry lead production operation or similar manufacturing environment
• High school degree or equivalent. Basic Computer knowledge.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
