Job Title:- Senior Software Developer

Project Type:- 12 months contract-to-hire role

Location:- Hybrid at Reston, VA (once or twice per month but could increase down the road.) - Candidates from DC & Maryland within commutable distance to Reston, VA will also work.

Interview Process:- First round panel interview with tech team followed by in-person with the hiring manager.

Important notes from the hiring manager (Must Read & Must Haves):-

• Must be in DMV area to report to Reston office to meet once or twice per month but could increase down the road.
• Must be hands on resource with Node.js, IBM APIC, DataPower (v.10) and IBM Cloud SaaS platform.
• AWS API Gateway is strong preference.
• Basic coding/scripting skills: Node.js or Python is must.
• Jenkins scripting exp is must.
• Java & Bash/Shell only preference.
• Ideal candidate: Java Developer with a focus on API work.
• Mix of Developer and Configuration skills...But having a coding BG is basically mandatory with some API exp.

Job Description:-

Performs complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software ranging from operating system architecture integration and software design to selection of computer systems, language, and/or equipment. Designs, develops/codes, tests, and documents critical and complex application programs for computer systems. Works with appropriate stakeholders to define system scope and objectives and establish baselines. Establishes project standards and processes. Breaks down software requirements and creates highly complex systems.

Essential Functions:
25% Perform technical detail design, coding, testing of applications. Serves as subject matter expert for both customer and internal discussions related to maintaining and enhancing existing software systems. Develop and/or analyze interface design documentation. Comply with hardware and software systems standards and procedures. Deliver large systems for tens of thousands of users. Comply with code quality, migration and dev/ops standards and policies

25% Performs software analysis, including requirements and uses case development and design. Implements and documents source code to design specifications. Performs software testing including developing and running automated unit tests, drafting, and executing structured automated test cases. Compile, assess, and report data results from software testing and analysis.

25% Develops software solutions for enterprise environments and other technologies. Analyzes and implements functional and non-functional (e.g. performance, availability) requirements and designs, implements, and tests software. Performs operations & maintenance (O&M) of existing systems. Identifies areas for improvement and streamlining. Demonstrated experience with front-end and back-end programing and integration frameworks and tools. Assist in the estimation of development of application features

25% Provides direct technical support for high level, high visibility and critical trouble calls for supported applications. Works with cross functional teams to develop highly reliable software that runs at scale. Provides recommendations to infuse new technology. Extend open-source libraries and systems as necessary to meet the needs of the team. Play a crucial role in product scoping and roadmap / architecture discussions. Continually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices. Mentoring of junior software engineers

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
Education Details: Information Technology or Computer Science
Experience: 5 years' experience with software development, basic coding and compilation, software architecture/design, user requirements definition and software specification development.

In Lieu of Education: Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

• The Candidate must play the role of subject matter expert in the field of Web Services, microservices and REST API.
• Review the API specification for conformance of the enterprise standards and API governance framework
• Review the documentation and make recommendation for change
• Design and develop framework (reusable routines) using REST API Specifications and shell scripts to manage lifecycle of APIs
• Work with CI/CD team to create necessary custom Jenkins pipelines
• Design, develop and implement custom API flows and Publish APIs to APIM platform
• Troubleshoot issues seen in DataPower and APIM
• Generate reports from APIM Analytics
• Experience with OAuth and JWT (with OpenID Connect)
• Participate in customer onboarding activities on to API Gateway platform and participate in triage activities on a need basis

Business Justification
Our projects will need integration with API's exposed through APIM Platform. APIM is a Platform that integrates different front-end technologies with backend web servers. The candidate will help review and publish the APIs as per enterprise standards. Also help in troubleshooting issues that the team might see, and evaluating, conduct proof of concept and implementation cloud solution to meet organization technology modernization goals.
